They were all there on the page, in plain view in his story. That I hadn’t processed some of my own hurts as much as I thought I had. It didn’t take long before I realized what Rhys was teaching me. It a lot of different ways, it became something of my own story. So of course, once I got home from work that day, I grabbed my laptop and started writing the first scene of the book which largely stayed intact through edits and publication.Īnd it turned into something which I could never have predicted.
